Create, Serve, Act,
It is in our partnerships that these words spring to life. Here, relevance finds meaning. Here, purpose becomes passion.
Food, Clothing and Other Services
ICM (Interfaith Cooperative Ministries) serves the basic needs of up to 150 poor families every day, providing food, clothing, housewares and utility assistance. Services also include a free medical clinic once a month. Ktizo volunteers, including kids, help sort clothing and prepare food boxes. We donate food, clothing and housewares regularly. We also participate in fund raising for this much needed organization.
Desert Mission Food Bank serves families in the Sunnyslope area with emergency food assistance. Ktizo holds two food drives a year to help this organization with their mission.
Imagine School at Cortez Park is a K – 8th grade public charter school that serves 850 students and their families. For many of these students, English is a second language. Our dedicated group of Ktizo volunteers spends time with students every Wednesday after school helping with reading and math skills. We are very excited about this partnership with Imagine School.
Community Garden Programs / Farmer’s Market
Ktizo, is dedicated to providing nutritious food to the hungry. We work with other community volunteers planting, growing and harvesting food at the St. Vincent de Paul Watkins Road garden and the garden at the Human Services Campus downtown. We are getting ready to open our Farmer’s Market stand which will operate every Sunday in the parking-lot behind the church. We work with local growers and will have tables to rent for our neighbors who also want to sell their food items. Here are a list of our Farmer’s market partners.
School Garden Programs
We are very proud of our partnership with the Washington School District, helping them establish on-site school gardens. We help to teach kids the value of food sustainability. We are currently working with
- Manzanita Elementary
- Cactus Wren Elementary
- Alta Vista Elementary
- Sweetwater Elementary
- Roadrunner Elementary
We have a dedicated coordinator at each of these schools that works with the principal, school staff and kids to get these gardens up and growing. The kids and the staff are excited beyond belief.
Mental Health / Addiction Recovery
Nar-Anon is a world renowned organization helping people and their families with addiction and recovery through a 12 Step Program. We recognize the toll that addiction takes on individuals and their loved ones. Ktizo holds a Nar-Anon meeting every Monday evening at 7:00 pm at the church, for families and friends of addicts. This meeting is registered on the Nar-Anon website. For more information, call Janice Morrison at 602-377-0477.
Recovery Innovations is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to creating opportunities and environments that empower people to recover and succeed in accomplishing their goals, and to reconnect to themselves, others, and meaning and purpose in their lives. Ktizo is proud to partner with this organization.
Crossroads West for Men is a 56 bed campus that provides food and stable housing for men undergoing addiction recovery. This is a 12 step based program and more than 25 meetings are held on this campus each week, attended by more than 1000 recovering individuals.
The Open Table is a platform through which our Brothers and Sisters in poverty and congregation members become partners in developing a plan to achieve sustainability and wholeness. Each Table is composed of a group of volunteers that make a year commitment to act as a team of life specialists, encouragers, and advocates for impoverished Brothers, Sisters and families. The Table members, together with the individual or family being helped, establish goals, accountability, develop an overall plan and implement it. Table members network in their congregations and the community for resources to support the plan. Ktizo is in the process of applying to be an Open Table congregation. This partnership is one of our newest and is still in the development stages. We are excited about the possibilities.
