Conversation on Race Equity

On Sunday, January 11th, at both the 9:00am and 11:00am services, Ktizo United Church of Christ will host Julie Nelson of Seattle, WA to begin a Conversation on Race and Equity: the opportunities to actualize our values. The Conversation will be held in the context of our worship services.

Julie Nelson is the Director of the Government Alliance on Race and Equity, a national network of government working to achieve racial equity and advance opportunities for all and a Senior Fellow at the Haas Institute for a Fair and Inclusive Society at the University of California, Berkeley. She will provide reflections on the importance of values, highlighting values such as equality, justice, love and community that are of particular importance to faith-based communities.

All are welcome to attend.

Did you make any new year’s resolutions; maybe to get healthier, or to go back to school, or to stick to budget, or to find a new job? Maybe to travel and meet new friends. We start off each new year with hopeful hearts that the future holds better things for our lives, for our families and friends and for the world.

It is my hope, that as we look forward, towards the future, we stay focused on all that we have to be grateful for; for our abundance. Let us, with steadfast certainty, know that we will encounter God in all the experiences our lives in the year ahead; God in our greatness and God in our failures, God in times of celebration and God in the mundane. I love the quote by Richard Rohr “God comes to us disguised as our lives”.

Ktizo’s journey this past year has been quite a ride. We found a building and moved from the safe haven of the UCC Southwest Conference Center into a new space in west Phoenix. We became proud homeowners in the Manzanita area. We are still settling in and getting to know our neighbors in our 200 block sanctuary and surrounding neighborhoods.   We have enjoined in new partnerships and nurtured new and renewed friendships.  So much has happened this past year. What some would call serendipity; we call God’s miraculous timing.

Thank you to everyone who gave of their time, talents and financial gifts. Thank you to those who lifted prayers and cheered us on. We look forward with clarity, hope and purpose, believing that God guides us in all we do. Thanks for being a part of the journey. Thanks be to God.

Christmas Eve Service

Please join us for Christmas Eve Ktizo style on Wednesdy, December 24th at 7:00pm. We hope that the miracle of the season brings peace and joy to your hearts.

Our Footprint

New HomeIt has been the vision of Ktizo to establish a footprint in a community – our 200 block sanctuary. We are still a new church by anyone’s definition, but we are growing. In June of this year, we purchased a property at 8724 N. 35th Ave. in Phoenix, Arizona. We are in the process of transforming our new home in to a space that serves the needs of our church, our community and the world.  We are still in the planning stages of the building renovation and there is much to do as we prepare this place for worship, fellowship, education, meetings and mission. The new space will have a community center feel.  Eventually, we hope to have a professional style kitchen.   God has imparted on us a home so that we may bring forth God’s love to all the people.  Our target move in date into this new space is October of this year.  We are located at 8724 N. 35th Ave. Phoenix, Arizona 85051.
